ደቡብ ኦሞ ዞን በደቡብ ክልል ካሉት ዞኖች አንዷ ስትሆን ከባህር ጠለል በላይ 1,490ሜ (4,890ጫማ) ከፍታ ላይ የሚትገኝ ሆኖ በሰሜን ጋሞ ጎፋና ባስኬቶ ልዩ ወረዳ፣ በደቡብ ኬንያ፣ በደቡብ ምዕራብ ኢሌሚ ትሪያንግል በምዕራብ ቤንች ማጂ በምስራቅ ኦሮሚያ ክልል በሰሜን ምዕራብ ኬፋ፣ በሰሜን ምስራቅ ደራሼና አሌ ወረዳ (ሰገን አካባቢ) ያዋስኗታል፡፡ በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ 16 ብሔረሰቦችን ያቀፈች ብቸኛ ዞን ደቡብ ኦሞ ናት፡፡ ዞኗ በ8 ወረዳና አንድ ከተማ አስተዳደር የተዋቀረች፤ በውስጧ በ16 ብሔረሰቦች ገጸ በረከት የታደለች ብቸኛዋ የሀገራችን ህብረ ብሔር ዞን ናት፡፡ ሁሉም ብሔረሰቦች የራሳቸው ባህልና ወግ ያላቸው ሲሆን በመከባበርና በመፈቃቀድ ላይ በተመሠረተ ኑሮ ዘይቤ ለዘመናት ሲኖሩ ከርመዋል፡፡ ስለሆነም ሁሉም ባላቸው የባህል እሴቶች የቱርስት መስህብ ከመሆኑም ባሻገር በአሁኑ ወቅት የፌደራል መንግስት የልማት ኮሪደር እየሆነች ትገኛለች፡፡
